Guess I just ‘released’ my newest Norwegian Arms ep type thing called ‘jttrbg’ and it’s now available on my (bandcamp) 4 free n stuff. Two songs on this one, one that ya’ll may know because it’s been around a little bit but without a ‘proper release’. Also includes a super duper old song [written circa 2007] while living in Germany but also had yet to be recorded or what not. enjoy if you enjoy things like this.
Also now available there is my first ep release from last summer ‘Louise’ in its entirety. Also free. Share away friends.

Raw Thrills - For Someone

2:04 of pure bliss from the heart of the East Village.

(hat tip Rose Quartz)

I agree that this song is one of the better things I’ve heard in a while. Get the whole digital single (for free) here.

Woods - To Clean

This song’s been stuck in my head for a few days now. I feel as though it has that wonderful blend of utter simplicity and style that I never quite seem to achieve. Wish I could write a song using the ‘first three chords’ everyone learns on guitar and have it be awesome. Definitely one of my favorite tracks of the year.

Via Audio - Presents

So I heard this song a few months ago in someone’s car and I was pretty sure I hated it. And then it kept playing in my brain for some reason, and then I heard it again and I’m pretty sure I really like it, and I think it’s because of the harmonies that run throughout and the somewhat unorthodox arrangement/inversions. At least that’s what I think it is. Either way, it’s a fun little ditty.

Das Racist & Wallpaper -Combination Pizza Hut And Taco Bell (Wallpaper Remix)

Dom showed me this and my life is forever changed. Never have I laughed and danced so much at the same time.

Sometimes genius rears its head in odd forms. This is one of those instances

Jose Diaz & The Ninas - Hipsters Riding Dinosaurs

I finally finally finally finished mixing and mastering all of the songs for The Chadwick EP (thanks dad!), to be out at Jose’s discretion. This one came a long way.

Black Moth Super Rainbow - Gold Splatter

People always give me a funny look when they ask me what I’m listening to and I reply “Black Moth Super Rainbow”. I get even funnier looks when they ask what it sounds like, and I say something to the tune of “it sounds like robots decided to take acid and make music.”

These enigmatic folks from western Pennsylvania are one of my more favorite bands, and in celebration of their newest release “Eating Us” I decided it was best to post my (current) favorite track. Sailing vocoded vocals, smooth synths, and a relatively laid back vibe coat this guy in a smooth summery skin. All in all, it’s a great driving song.

José Díaz & The Niñas - Darling

So I just finished mixing and mastering this song with loads of help from Dad Chadwick. To be released on the probably posthumous Chadwick EP, (thanks dad).

This song is most certainly one of José’s finest, haunting and earnest, with a Sonic Youthy breakdown.

It was nothing short of a pleasure to play with José and have the opportunity to record him. Never in my life have I had a better excuse to wear facepaint and drink a 40.

Soon he’ll be up and moving to Seattle, and I’m sure many will miss him.

Cannibal Resource by Dirty Projectors

This is the stellar opening track from the Dirty Projector’s newest album Bitte Orca. I wouldn’t be surprised if this ends up being my favorite of the year.

In Philadelphia? You probably should come see these guys on Wednesday at the First Unitarian. If not, you should probably check them out when they’re in your town.

Drink Up Buttercup - Farewell Captain

Philly locals Drink Up Buttercup have been gaining attention from shore to shore for their unique brand of loud and raucous pop coupled with their energetic live shows that involve the beating of trash cans and plenty of operatic screaming. To be honest, up until recently I always felt that their recordings fell somewhat short of their live show, but with the track “Farewell Captain” all of this has changed.

Not only is their energy well reproduced in this recorded version of the song, but the song is nothing short of fantastic, with slick fuzzy guitars, plenty of booms and bangs, and a lovely shift into a Gogol Bordelloesque gypsy breakdown.

Catch these kids now so you’ll have “I knew them before they really blew up” street cred. You won’t be disappointed.

Black Rice by Women

Last.fm radio made me aware of this Canadian band a few days ago. I can’t get enough.
