excerpt from recent correspondance (because i don’t feel like writing a separate post)

I’m currently in Warsaw Poland, and I’m completely charmed by the place. The language is funny in that it’s closely related to Russian (similar sounds, some similar words, etc. Sometimes I can understand the gist of what people are saying. I usually can read menus in restaurants. I forgot that the phrases for ‘how are you’ and ‘thank you’ are the ones borat used. Feels silly to be able to kind of understand a completely different language. It makes me want to learn it or czech.

Now I also want to live in Poland. I’ll start working on it. I think I’ll figure out a way to do 6-8 months here, 6-8 months in the czech republic. Maybe I’ll just leave the US for a really extended period of time in a few years.

kinda awesome that you’re friends with a tibetan pop star. So you’re part of the entourage now?

“because i am a western woman they think they can fuck me, kiss me, touch me, etc. But I try to ignore it.” <- this sentence sounded funny to me and made me laugh because it seems like you’re ignoring their fucking you. Wonder how you accomplish that.

The weather has been crappy by local standards in Moscow, Berlin , and now Warsaw but I’m totally thrilled for it to be 32 degrees and snowy. It’s better than the -32 I’ve become accustomed to.

Oh, I was in Berlin, it was fun. I met up with a friend of my sister’s from when she lived in Germany. I went to a club and got really frustrated at German culture. I’ll blog about it eventually.

Tomorrow is Krakow time, I’m pretty excited to go there because it’s supposed to be the prettiest city in poland and one of the prettiest in Europe. After that comes Berlin again and then Italy. I’ll get to go to Pompeii and I think that’s pretty awesome.
