miss u soon free time

Welcome to Russia, where the computers arbitrarily decide that your flash drive is not something they want to work with. This is frustrating, I had a few pictures to share. It might be time to try and get internet at my apartment.

The last few days have seen things actually starting to get moving here. I start my actual Russian class tomorrow, and I should be teaching by next week. Apparently I’m to be working in the Linguistics, Methodology, and Technical translation departments, which makes it seem as though my assignments are going to be rather varied. NOw that it’s coming to and end, I’m really starting to appreciate all of my free time that I’ve had for the past two weeks, it’s allowed me to:

1. Walk around the city a lot/get to know it
2. Actually be good at checking my email
3. Letting me get accustomed to hearing Russian all the time so I actually have begun to really understand things
4. Read “The Road” and “The Eden Express” as well as the Calvin and Hobbes book I brought with me
5. Play a LOT of Peggle
6. Get pretty good at windows pinball/solitare
7. Watch all the movies/shows on my computer that I didn’t have time for (La Dolce Vita, Ugetsu, Read Beard, FLCL)
8. Watch some movies in Russian I got from a friend (Wall-e, The Truman Show, No Reservations [lame, I know but lol @ zoe kravitz as the goth babysitter], Eight Below [lol @ dogz stranded in Antartica])
9. Drink some Russian beer
10. Write some songs on the mando (this I’m very excited about)
11. Watch really bad Russian TV
12. Listen to Jose’s song a lot (it’s really good in a “makes me miss philly/jose’s expression of sad lonely feelings way”)

Soon I’ll be teaching about 18 hours a week (plus planning) and actually getting work done in the normal societal sense of ‘work’

Should be getting a bike today, I’m really excited to ride a lot until it gets too cold/covered in snow here.
